Cody Horbacz, Executive Director, is a managing partner of Pick-n-Go Property Waste Services, an independent door-step waste collection company. He was born and raised in Watertown and is currently raising his own family in this community. Cody’s vision for Watertown First began when he ran for Watertown City Council in November 2013. He believes in the importance of creating a self-sustaining economy by encouraging the success of local businesses.
Brandon Rule, Assistant Executive Director, started with the organization in 2014 after learning about their early efforts. He was born in Watertown, and recently returned to the area after living for several years in Brooklyn, NY. He is currently working for his family business, Inkwell Graphix. He was impressed with the localist movements from Brooklyn and was excited to learn of similarly motivated people in our area. He is a graphic designer and is happy to use his skills to help the organization and member businesses, as well as the community as a whole.
Meaghan O’Rourke, Secretary, is the Sales Assistant at ABC 50. She was born and raised in the greater Watertown area, and attended school at St. Bonaventure University where she received her B.A. in French and Journalism/Mass Communication. She comes from a family of independent business owners, so she is excited to be a part of an organization that understands their importance and the contribution they make to the local economy.
Kyle Brown, J.D., Parliamentarian, is a recent graduate of Syracuse University College of Law and will be sitting for the New York State Bar exam in July. Born and raised in Watertown, he attended St. John Fisher College where he received his B.A. in Political Science and Legal Studies. While attending S.U., he worked for the Mental Hygiene Legal Service, Fourth Appellate Department, which represents all individuals that are in-patient’s in psychiatric hospitals in Onondaga, Oswego and Jefferson counties. Kyle is looking forward to giving back to the community that raised him and for an area of the state that is often overlooked.
Kraig Everard, Marketing Director, is the Director of Corporate Support at WPBS-TV. He is responsible for all initiatives of the stations on-air, online, print, and event fundraising objectives as well as brand management including graphic design projects and the station websites. He also serves as the director of sales for WPBS-TV’s subsidiary company, Quality Production, Inc., a media production agency, which extends the services of the station and its award winning producers to marketing and advertising clients. Kraig is looking forward to helping local business thrive in our growing economy.
Andrew Sylvester, board member, is a web developer born and raised in the greater Watertown area. He attended Baruch College in Manhattan where he received his bachelor’s degree in 2009. He moved back to the area with his wife, because he missed the small-town atmosphere, attitude and history. In addition to his role in WatertownFirst, Andrew is the Vice-president of the Adams Revitalization Committee and participates in various community events with his wife on behalf of her employer, Northern Federal Credit Union. He appreciates this opportunity to actually make a difference in the community and get to know people in a way that isn’t quite possible in a big city.
