Watertown, N.Y. – WatertownFirst declares the week of July 1-7 Independents Week. The organization is planning a weeklong schedule of events to celebrate independent businesses that exemplify the uniqueness of the greater Watertown community.
“Independents Week is an occasion to celebrate small businesses’ contributions to our community, and to affirm citizens’ role in shaping our community’s future.” said WatertownFirst Founding President and Executive Director, Cody Horbacz. “Our independent business community embodies the spirit of entrepreneurship and American independence. We urge people to support these businesses as they play an important role in enriching our community’s culture and strengthening our local economy.”
To kick off the week, WatertownFirst is partnering with Maggie’s on the River for the first annual Black River Block Party – a day of vendors, art and music along the Veterans’ Memorial Riverwalk leading to Maggie’s on the River – taking place Saturday, July 2. More information to follow.
Vendor applications and sponsorships are still being accepted by messaging WatertownFirst on Facebook or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Vendor spaces are exclusive to local and independent businesses or crafters; national franchises and direct sales groups are outside the scope of the mission of WatertownFirst.
